Adobe rentacar sponsored a series of events called “Yo Canto por Amor”. It was a regional singing contest with 30 singers representing the kids in the special education school singing in locals throught the country of Aguiire.
The places were packed at every event, the singers were great and the local merchants were tremendously supportive. We even filled up a restaurant/bar in Pasito, a long haul from Quepos.
The winner was a beautiful and talented singer named Alejandra Chinchilla. Not just talented by gorgeous as well.
Alejandra won a 52 inch plasma tv, which she promptly donated to the foundation, what a beautiful thing!
My love and thanks to themany who participates.
The foundation van does a route that is amazing, it does routes to rural towns on dirt roads every day. It makes trips come rain or shine, 5 days a week.
Recently there was a small accident and the bubblegum, tape, spit and rubber bands that held it together are no longer doing the job.
The van is a goner.
We depend on that transportation to make all of our programs work. We see 30 kids a week in special education, 40 in speech therapy and many others who get physical therapy, all free of charge. I can only think of one or two families that have a car! The bus runs off hours due to the rural worker’s needs that do not meet the needs of our kids.
We need hlep, in the form of a good deal, or some money to help out or any donation that can help us replace that van.
I have gotten to where I am afraid to have any children in it! It did not make it all the way up thehill to Perez Zeledon for an insurance qualified repair shop! Not a good sign!
If you can help, please let us know!
Last year I took a young man from the foundation to see Dr. Oscar Suarez at the CIMA facility in Ezcasu. Dr. Suarez is probably the best plastic surgeon in Costa Rica.
Dr. Suarez agreed to fix a congenital problem that JeanCarlos was born with, he has no ears.
JeanCarols can hear, he uses a headphone device that goes up against the skin where his ears would be. But there are no holes there, just all the inner workings of his ears and nothing on the outside.
Dr Suarez told JeanCarlos’ mom that he would have to be 6 years old in order to do the surgery.
He is 6 now. I saw Oscar at CIMA the other day and he told me that the prosthetic devices had been recieved from the US and that the surgery will be scheduled soon.
I am thrilled, and JeanCarlos is really excited about looking normal!
I am thrilled at the kindness and generosity of Dr. Suarez.

Thousands of things go right for you every day, beginning the moment you wake up. The vast majority of everything is working with breathtaking efficiency and consistency. You would clearly be
deluded to imagine that life is primarily an ordeal.
